BaliSpirit Festival in full swing

I am utterly exhausted and I’m only on day two of the BaliSpirit Festival.

Rule No. 1: Pace yourself.

Yes, there may be four classes a day and events at night. But no, I really shouldn’t try to go to all of them.

I didn’t start off well rested but not jetlagged either.

I’m not sure if it’s sweating until I’m drenched or just that I haven’t done this much yoga in awhile. Regardless, it’s exhausting.

But also fun.

Each session I pick something different. Maybe a type of yoga I’ve never tried before or something on the history or philosophy of yoga.

I try to mix it up with a few rigorous sessions and a few calming ones. Unfortunately, the schedule doesn’t say what type of class each will be. I just figure, if I really hate it, I can leave and find one I like better.

My first class had me dripping sweat onto my mat and it wasn’t yet 9 a.m.

By the end of class, my hair was drenched.

The heat takes it toll and as long as everyone is equally smelly and gross, you don’t notice too much.

It’s been great to be able to take one class from a type of yoga I haven’t tried before like Jivamukti or Prana Flow and then continue with my day learning about Thai massage.

I haven’t made it to one of the dance classes yet but that’s on my list.

Between the dance and music classes, there’s always some sort of something in the background because the stages are so close together. I’m finally enjoying some silence in my room and not even putting on music to write.

I have plans for a few classes tomorrow, but might have to go a little later to catch up on my sleep. Otherwise, I’m not sure how I’ll hold out until Sunday.
